On November 5, law enforcement officials carried out firearms testing near Barrett Lane and Rayner Track. This followed reports of a solitary gunshot heard around 11:45 a.m. in the area, coinciding with a tragic shooting incident.
Just after 10:30 a.m. on August 26, ten officers responded to a property on Rayner Track, where officers Neal Thompson and Vadim de Waart-Hottart tragically lost their lives, and a third officer sustained injuries.
“Police have thoroughly searched the area, yet there has been no sign of Freeman,” stated authorities in an official release.
“Investigators are optimistic that the firearm testing could provide valuable insights for the ongoing investigation,” they added.
Victoria Police are urging anyone who might have heard the gunshot to step forward with information.
They are also keen to speak to any member of the public who may have fired that gunshot.
There has been no official sightings of Freeman since he fled into bushland following the alleged shooting.
Investigators have characterised Freeman, who has links to the disparate sovereign citizen movement, as a skilled outdoorsman.
A $1 million reward for information leading to his arrest remains on offer and anyone with information about his whereabouts has been urged to call triple zero.
