A recently circulated, unverified photo depicts alleged assassin Luigi Mangione mingling with inmates at Brooklyn’s infamous Metropolitan Detention Center. Sources reveal to Page Six that Mangione is regarded as a “model prisoner,” known for mentoring fellow inmates.

An insider familiar with the facility confirmed, “Yes, he’s a model prisoner. That’s the reputation he has among those within and around the MDC. He’s well-liked by those who interact with him.”

Mangione, a 27-year-old University of Pennsylvania graduate accused of the cold-blooded murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Midtown, has reportedly been quite supportive of new inmates. “He’s been very helpful,” the source explained. “He assists new arrivals in adjusting to prison life. In the general population, he’s known for helping others stay out of trouble and adhering strictly to the rules.”

Another legal source recounted an incident where an inmate was reprimanded for not having his shirt properly tucked into his prison uniform, highlighting the strictness of the facility’s regulations. “Luigi is very conscientious about following rules,” the source added.

To navigate the complexities of prison life, Mangione has reportedly received guidance from prison consultant Craig Rothfeld, who has previously advised high-profile clients such as disgraced movie producer Harvey Weinstein and NXIVM cult leader Keith Raniere.

The MDC has hosted a cavalcade of famous criminals, often as they await trial, including Diddy, crypto dude Sam Bankman-Fried, R. Kelly, Jeffrey Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell, pharma bro Martin Shkreli and Donald Trump friend turned foe Michael Cohen.

Weinstein’s lawyer, appeals ace Arthur Aidala, tells Page Six that Mangione will face worse conditions after his federal trial — when he’s transferred to Rikers Island to await separate New York state charges.

“I don’t want to say [the MDC] is like the Taj Mahal, but it’s a hell of a lot nicer than Rikers,” Aidala said.

Mangione pleaded not guilty to federal and state charges for allegedly gunning down the health care exec outside his insurance company’s annual investor conference on Dec. 4, 2024. He was then arrested in Pennsylvania after a five-day manhunt by authorities.

He’s due back in federal court on Dec. 5, and trial date has yet been set.
