ORLANDO, FL – As Monday night transitions into Tuesday morning, a noticeable chill will envelop the region.

Residents in Marion, Flagler, and Sumter counties should prepare for temperatures nearing the freezing mark. Meanwhile, communities in Lake, Orange, Seminole, Volusia, and Osceola counties can expect temperatures to plunge into the mid to upper 30s. Brevard County will experience slightly warmer conditions, with lows settling in the low 40s.

Tuesday wakeup temps

The most striking aspect of this cold snap, however, is the gusty winds that will sweep across Central Florida. These winds will exacerbate the cold, making it feel as if the temperatures are in the 20s, a stark reminder of the season’s chill.

Wind chills Tuesday morning

For those living north and west of Interstate 4, the potential for freezing and frost conditions looms large. Monday would be an opportune moment to safeguard delicate plants and ensure that pets are kept warm. Thankfully, the piping systems should remain unaffected under these conditions.

Freeze/Frost potential

The last occurrence of such frigid temperatures in Orlando was on January 25, when the mercury dropped to a chilly 38 degrees.

And we could be flirting with history.

Tuesday’s high is forecast at 59 degrees, which could break the record cold high of 61 degrees set all the way back in 1913 — more than a century ago.

Ocala could also break its record cold high, set all the way back in 1905, 120 years ago.

Tuesday

Morning lows will be cold across the region, though at this point we’re not expecting to break any records.
