On Sunday, the New York Jets honored the memory of their iconic center, Nick Mangold, who recently passed away due to complications from kidney disease.

During the warmup session, Jets players and coaching staff donned black T-shirts featuring Mangold’s image, with “A True Jet” and his jersey number 74 emblazoned on the back. Jeremy Ruckert, a tight end for the Jets and fellow Ohio State alum, paid homage by arriving in Mangold’s Ohio State No. 55 jersey.

Fans arriving at the stadium received shirts commemorating Mangold, further uniting the community in remembrance.

Within MetLife Stadium, Mangold’s legacy was visually celebrated with his photos displayed in two corners and the number 74 prominently featured in the other corners.

Prior to kickoff, a heartfelt video tribute was broadcast, followed by an address from former teammate D’Brickashaw Ferguson, who shared the field with Mangold for a decade. The tribute included a large flag bearing the number 74 and an American flag displayed on the field, alongside a massive banner of Mangold’s image in the stands.

Mangold’s wife, Jenny, and his four children were on the field for the ceremony and served as honorary captains for the coin toss.

Mangold, a 2006 first-round pick of the Jets, played for the team for 11 seasons. He made seven Pro Bowls and was first-team All-Pro twice.
