The journey of the beloved Frasers is nearing its end as Outlander fans prepare to bid adieu. Starz has officially announced that the eighth and final season of the romantic saga is set to debut on March 6, 2026.

In a recent press release, the network offered a glimpse into the challenges Claire and Jamie Fraser will face in this concluding chapter. The couple returns to their home at Fraser’s Ridge, a now bustling settlement that has evolved significantly during their absence. The looming shadow of war has found its way to their doorstep, and they must confront what they are willing to risk for their home and, more crucially, for each other.

As the Frasers stand united against external threats, internal family secrets threaten to unravel the bonds that tie them together. Despite leaving behind the battle for America’s freedom, their struggle to protect Fraser’s Ridge is only just beginning. The narrative promises a gripping exploration of loyalty, sacrifice, and the enduring power of love in the face of adversity.

“As Season Eight begins, Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitríona Balfe) soon find the war has followed them home to Fraser’s Ridge, now a thriving settlement that has grown and flourished in their absence,” the release reads. “With new arrivals and changes made during their years away, the Frasers are confronted with the question of what they are willing to sacrifice for the place they call home and, more importantly, what they would sacrifice to stay together.”

It continues, “While the Frasers keep a united front against outside intruders, family secrets finally coming to light threaten to tear them apart from the inside. Although they’ve left the war for America’s freedom behind, their fight for Fraser’s Ridge has only just begun.”

Starz released a teaser trailer that offered a sneak peek of what fans should expect from the final season, including a nod to Diana Gabaldon’s Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone and a mysterious newcomer who leaves Claire in shock.

But Matthew B. Roberts, showrunner for Outlander and Outlander: Blood of My Blood, also confirmed to DECIDER that the series will finally address what happened to their firstborn child Faith.

“We’re not going to leave it under the table,” he said. “You’ll see the stories play out.”

Though Outlander will be coming to an end in the spring, fans will still get to see more of Jamie and Claire’s story in Outlander: Blood of my Blood, which explores how their parents met.
