Victoria Coren Mitchell, the presenter of Only Connect, recently shared her thoughts on the BBC’s blockbuster show, Celebrity Traitors, labeling it as “childish.” Reflecting on the finale from Thursday, November 6, she remarked, “It’s an incredibly childish show, airing after the watershed, complete with high fashion and swearing. So, it’s not for children but rather for adults who wish they were kids. And honestly, that’s all sensible adults, in my opinion.”

Coren Mitchell elaborated, “The show is based on a well-known game that I’ve enjoyed for years. It’s like poker in 2003, suddenly becoming a mainstream sensation. Now, everyone is hosting their own home games! By Christmas, it might just outshine tinsel in popularity!” Given her reputation as a games enthusiast and quiz expert, she frequently faces inquiries about recreating the show at home. She suggests that the immensely popular show can be replicated with nothing more than a pen and paper.

In her Telegraph column, she detailed the gameplay, recommending a group of “at least nine people” to get started.

However, she offered a word of caution based on the experiences from the celebrity edition of the show.

“There was palpable tension—these participants were competing on television for a fee,” she noted.

“Imagine what happens when they’re NOT motivated to pretend they’re easy-going! So my last piece of advice is: do not play this game if it matters whether people remain friends. Or, indeed, married.”

The final of Celebrity Traitors proved a huge hit with an average audience of 11.1million viewers, with a peak of 12million, the BBC confirmed. The broadcaster stated that it was the biggest overnight audience since the episode of Gavin and Stacey on Christmas Day last year.

Comedian and television host Alan Carr, 49, managed to outwit his fellow contestants to claim victory, and he also landed the prize of £87,500, which will go to a charity of his choice.

Alan, who was appointed as a Traitor early in the competition, triumphed in the tense final episode of the BBC reality series.

The Chatty Man host beat fellow finalists Cat Burns, Joe Marler, Nick Mohammed, and David Olusoga after weeks of strategic gameplay, alliances, and betrayals filmed at Ardross Castle.
