The Rainbow PUSH Coalition revealed in a statement that Jackson is currently under observation for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), a degenerative neurological condition he has been battling for over ten years. Initially diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, Jackson’s PSP diagnosis was confirmed in April. His family has requested ongoing prayers during this challenging period.

The 84-year-old first rose to prominence in the 1960s as a close associate of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Over the course of more than six decades, Jackson has been a steadfast advocate for racial equality and economic justice, even running for the U.S. presidency in both 1984 and 1988.

He helped to found the Chicago-based Rainbow PUSH Coalition, an organization dedicated to social justice. He spent nearly three decades leading Rainbow PUSH before stepping down in 2023.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
