A significant development has emerged in a tragic case from earlier this year in Chicago. Police have arrested and charged a man in connection with the death of a two-month-old infant, bringing a somber chapter to a heartbreaking story.

Anthony Evans, a 23-year-old resident of Chicago, now faces serious charges of murder following the death of baby Kayson Flowers. The infant’s untimely passing in April was initially shrouded in mystery, but subsequent investigations have shed light on the grim details.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that baby Kayson succumbed to multiple injuries indicative of child abuse. These disturbing findings led to the classification of his death as a homicide, marking a tragic loss that has deeply affected the local community.

After months of investigations, Chicago police detained Evans earlier this week, filing a charge of “One (1) felony count – Murder – Strong Probability Death/Injure.” This arrest has provided a measure of relief for those seeking justice for baby Kayson, but it also opens up a painful chapter for his family.

In the aftermath of her son’s death, Kayla Flowers, the baby’s mother, expressed her anguish and disbelief. Speaking to ABC7 in May, she said, “My son didn’t deserve that. He was only 2 months, 2 months. He can’t fight back.” Her words underline the profound sorrow and injustice faced by the family and community alike.

Kayla said after Kayson was in the care of someone else for over a week, she picked him up on April 28. She says she was told he was asleep inside his car seat before leaving.

“Me, not thinking anything of it, because it was raining, I just took my baby to the house, because I didn’t want my child to get sick. So, when I went in the house, I uncovered the stroller in the car seat, my baby was lifeless,” Kayla said.

Kayson was pronounced dead at the hospital later that day, but the family says doctors told them he had likely already been dead for six to eight hours.

“I want justice for my son,” Kayla said. “I’m not going to rest until I get justice.”

No further information about Evans’ arrest was immediately available.
