Gloria Hunniford has opened up about two profound losses that have deeply impacted her life. The “Loose Women” panellist mourns her husband, Stephen Way, who passed away last summer at the age of 85. His death occurred two decades after the loss of Gloria’s cherished daughter, Caron Keating, who succumbed to breast cancer at 41.

At 85, Gloria is reflecting on these heart-wrenching losses as she discusses the hope of one day reuniting with her loved ones in the afterlife.

Gloria was devoted to caring for her husband Stephen Way, whom she wed in 1998, throughout his courageous battle with illness, until he passed away last August.

Speaking from the home she shared with Stephen for four decades, the ITV personality addressed the question of whether she still senses his presence. She paused before offering a poignant response.

“I firmly believe I will see Caron again, and I believe I will see Stevie again,” Gloria expressed. “While I may not attend church every Sunday, my faith is strong. I think in life, you either believe in a place you go after death, or you don’t. I choose to believe there is such a place.”

The Rip Off Britain presenter shared her family and friends have helped her remain resilient despite the heartbreak.

She added to OK! magazine: “When Stephen was ill and he passed, you sort of think, ‘Well, what is the alternative?’

We have to get on with life for the family, the children, your grandchildren, your friends who need you.”

Last year, Gloria opened up about her husband’s health battles, revealing that he had become partially blind in his right eye after a second stroke. She applauded the NHS for saving his life back in 2020, reports the Mirror.

The couple previously faced another scare in 2019 when he was in a taxing taxi accident, fracturing the base of his spine, and Stephen has also endured a heart attack in 2004 and an initial stroke in 2012.

In 1997, Gloria suffered a devastating loss as her former spouse and father to her children, Don Keating, died. The couple shared three kids, Caron, Paul and Michael.

Heartbreakingly, seven years later, Gloria lost their daughter Caron to breast cancer. The former Blue Peter presenter was just 41 when she died in 2004, leaving behind two young sons.
