Law enforcement officials delving into the tragic stabbing of a man in a Bega park, located on the New South Wales South Coast, have expanded their inquiry to include a search of the surrounding wetlands.

Authorities are still on the hunt for those responsible for the death of the 43-year-old man, who was fatally attacked last month.

Emergency responders discovered the victim at a park on East Street in Bega around 2 a.m. on October 6, after receiving a call expressing concerns about an individual’s welfare.

The aim of the search was to locate items that may have been discarded after the alleged stabbing, police said.

Despite the paramedics’ efforts to revive him, the man succumbed to his injuries at the location.

The case has prompted a thorough homicide investigation.

A second man, aged 45 and also suffering stab wounds, was taken to South East Regional Hospital in a stable condition.

He has since been released from hospital.

As a part of the investigation, police seized a knife and electronic devices during a search of a unit in Bega on October 30.

No one was home at the time.
