President Donald Trump took a moment from his busy schedule in the Oval Office to meet with visiting children, distributing small gifts and introducing himself warmly with the words, “My name is Donald.” This charming interaction was captured in a video shared by communications advisor Margo Martin.
The brief clip, which went viral and amassed hundreds of thousands of views shortly after being posted, offered a rare, lighter glimpse of the president amidst the hectic pace of a news cycle dominated by the government shutdown. It provided both supporters and critics with a chance to see a more gentle side of Trump.
Within just two hours of being shared on Martin’s account on X, the video had already garnered nearly 500,000 views. Martin frequently posts exclusive behind-the-scenes content of Trump that isn’t available through other media.
In the footage, a voice off camera is heard saying, “He wants to know what your name is,” prompting a response from the president.
Smiling, Trump answered, “My name is Donald,” to the delight of the children gathered around him.
In the video, Trump offers challenge coins to the children, journalist Salena Zito’s grandchildren. The White House told Fox News Digital the children had stopped by to say hello.
The video is the latest in a pattern of sweet moments Trump has shared with some of his youngest supporters, including coloring with kids at the Easter Egg Roll earlier this year. He is the grandfather of eleven grandchildren.
“She said yes — she’s smart,” Trump said in the video, laughing before adding with a grin, “She’s so cute.”

One commenter said under the video, “that’s a grandpa doing grandpa stuff,” and another added, “kindness transcends politics” with a folded hands emoji.
Moments like this have routinely dominated social feeds, as viral interactions caught on camera can break through the news cycle and deliver massive digital reach for the White House.
The video ended with the president offering pens to Zito’s grandchildren.
“OK, do you want a pen?” President Trump asked. “One of them. One, two, three.”
