Epstein emails reveal he tried to weasel his way into Trump's orbit

Newly unveiled emails reveal that Jeffrey Epstein requested a photo of a child from a prominent aide to Donald Trump.

In a correspondence with Tom Barrack, a private equity investor and Trump’s ambassador to Turkey, Epstein made the unusual request: “Send photos of you and child – make me smile.”

The conversation began when Barrack reached out to Epstein, saying, “Hope ur [sic] good. Let’s catch up.”

Following his request for the child’s image, Epstein responded again in less than an hour.

In his follow-up message, Epstein remarked, “Hope you are well. Photos look good. FYI I receive many calls a week about Donald ([REDACTED], Marla, beauty contest, Mar-a-Lago etc) and Clinton.”

‘Less so recently with Clinton, but my answers are always I have nothing to say. Or I try to ignore altogether.

‘A few times I have been ambushed on the street with questions, but am more careful now.’

Barrack’s name appeared alongside other high-profile names including President Trump and former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers.

The correspondence showed that Epstein referred to Trump in correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell and Michael Wolff over a period of at least eight years.

In a 2011 email Epstein sent Maxwell, he claimed that ‘Virginia [Giuffre] spent hours at my house with Trump’.

Giuffre, who committed suicide earlier this year, was recruited by Maxwell while employed as a spa attendant at the Mar-a-Lago Club in 2000. She was 16 years old.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called the dump a politically-motivated ‘smear’ campaign and repeated Giuffre’s former statements about Trump in which she absolved him of any wrongdoing.

Trump did not send or receive any of the emails, and he has not been charged with any crime in relation to Epstein or Maxwell.

In 2019 Summers was discussing interactions he had with a woman, writing to Epstein that ‘I said what are you up to. She said “I´m busy”. I said awfully coy u are.’

Epstein replied: ‘You reacted well.. annoyed shows caring. No whining showed strentgh[sic].’

Summers issued a statement saying he has ‘great regrets in my life’, adding: ‘My association with Jeffrey Epstein was a major error of judgement.’

The names and messages appeared this week amongst thousands of documents released by the House Oversight Committee.

Despite pleading guilty in 2008 to soliciting prostitution from an underage girl, his crimes did little to diminish his network of wealthy and influential individuals.

Some reached out to support Epstein amid lawsuits and prosecutions, others sought introductions or advice on everything from dating to oil prices.

Epstein was charged with sex trafficking in 2019, and killed himself in jail a month later.

His crimes, high-profile connections and jailhouse suicide have made the case a magnet for conspiracy theorists and online sleuths seeking proof of a cover-up.

The emails don’t implicate his contacts in those crimes but instead paint a picture of Epstein’s influence and connections over the years he was a registered sex offender.

The Daily Mail has contacted the State Department for comment over Barrack’s appearance in the emails.
