Monroe, the daughter of Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, is candidly discussing her family dynamics.

On Wednesday, November 13, the 14-year-old took to Instagram Stories to shed light on the intricacies of her blended family. In a fashion typical of teenagers, she conveyed her message with brevity and clarity.

“Just clearing something up, guys,” she posted. “I have ONE brother, @moroccan.cannon. I do have other half-siblings from my dad, but they are all much younger than me!”

Monroe and her twin brother, Moroccan—nicknamed Roc and Roe—came into the world in 2011, three years following Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s secret wedding in the Bahamas. After their 2014 separation and subsequent divorce in 2016, Nick has fathered 10 more children with various partners, turning their family tree into a frequent topic of discussion in the entertainment industry.

The Wild ‘N Out host is a father to Golden Sagon, Rise Messiah, and Powerful Queen with Brittany Bell; twins Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir, as well as daughter Beautiful Zeppelin, with Abby De La Rosa; Legendary Love with Bre Tiesi; and Onyx Ice Cole with LaNisha Cole. He also has daughter Halo Marie and the late Zen with Alyssa Scott.

Despite the sprawling family dynamics, Nick has always expressed how deeply connected he feels to Monroe. He previously told People Magazine that she helped him through one of the darkest moments of his life, the loss of his infant son Zen.

“My daughter, really, she’s so in tune and in line and wise beyond her years,” he shared. “I got a lot of therapists, but she’s probably my best therapist… She keeps me in check. She’s so pure and honest.” He added that Monroe embraces her role as the eldest. “Even though they’re twins, she came out first and she lets everybody know it. She’s helped me keep it strong.”

As for Mariah Carey, she’s kept her commentary measured. When Gayle King asked about co-parenting with the father-of-12 during a CBS Mornings segment taped in September, she responded carefully. “I kind of feel like it’s best if I don’t talk about him, because he can just be in his own world.” She added, “No offense to him.”
