CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — In a historic performance for the Illinois men’s basketball team, freshman David Mirkovic achieved a remarkable feat not seen in over five decades during their game against Colgate.

Mirkovic, a promising talent from Montenegro, scored 27 points and grabbed 21 rebounds, marking the first time an Illinois player has recorded a 20-point, 20-rebound game since 1972.

This victory propels the 14th-ranked Fighting Illini to a 4-0 start this season, maintaining their undefeated record.

Keaton Wagler also impressed in the starting lineup with 19 points and six rebounds, while Ben Humrichous scored 10 points off the bench.

Another tough test awaits the Illini on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at the United Center, where Illinois will take on No. 8 Alabama, who’s coming off an 87-80 loss at home to No. 2 Purdue.
