The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported that after the shooter fired at the man, he continued to physically assault him until being stopped and fleeing in a dark SUV.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man in his 40s is on the mend after being shot at a bus stop along Normandy Boulevard in Jacksonville early Saturday morning, as per the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Sgt. Mitlyng of the JSO stated that officers were dispatched to the scene of the shooting at the JTA bus stop located at the crossroads of Normandy Boulevard and Mikael Avenue around 6:45 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim suffering from several gunshot wounds. The man was promptly transported to a nearby hospital with injuries described as life-threatening, Mitlyng informed First Coast News.

According to preliminary findings by the JSO, the suspect approached the victim near the bus stop and, for reasons yet to be determined, opened fire on him.

“The suspect continued to hit the victim until another unknown individual pulled him into a nearby dark SUV, which fled the scene,” Mitlyng said.

Mitlyng further explained that the shooter arrived at the scene in the SUV before the shooting occurred.

JSO said it did not have a description of the SUV, nor a description of the suspect.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
