In Rosharon, Texas, former NBA player Patrick Beverley has been apprehended and faces a felony assault charge related to what authorities describe as a “family violence” situation.

The 37-year-old was taken into custody early Friday morning at a residence in Rosharon, according to the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office. His bail has been set at $40,000.

In response to the incident, Beverley took to social media, urging people to be cautious and “not believe everything you see on the internet.”

He also shared an unsigned statement detailing that he unexpectedly discovered his underage sister in the company of an 18-year-old male.

“His concerns, like any protective brother’s, were valid regarding his sister’s safety. However, we contest the portrayal of subsequent events and are eager to clarify the circumstances in court,” the statement elaborated.

Beverley last played in the NBA for the Milwaukee Bucks in 2024. He previously was with the Houston Rockets, the Los Angeles Clippers and several other teams over his 12-year career.
