WASHINGTON – Senator John Fetterman has announced his return to Pennsylvania after a health scare landed him in the hospital. His office reported that he experienced a ventricular fibrillation episode, which led to dizziness and a fall during an early morning walk on Thursday.

Sharing an update on social media platform X, Fetterman, a Democrat from Pennsylvania, posted a photo on Saturday displaying the injuries to his nose and forehead. He captioned the image by stating, “20 stitches later and a full recovery, I’m back home,” expressing relief at being reunited with his wife, Gisele, and their children.

In the post, a smiling Fetterman extended his gratitude to the Pittsburgh medical team, thanking them for “putting me back together.”

He concluded his message with, “See you back in DC.”

According to the American Heart Association, ventricular fibrillation is a severe type of irregular heartbeat that can result in cardiac arrest—a sudden cessation of heart function—and potentially lead to sudden cardiac death.

Ventricular fibrillation occurs in the heart’s lower chambers, and the heart association says its causes include cardiomyopathy, which Fetterman was diagnosed with in 2022. Cardiomyopathy can impede blood flow and potentially cause heartbeats so irregular they can be fatal.

Fetterman, 56, disclosed that he was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and another type of abnormal heartbeat, atrial fibrillation, after he had a stroke during his 2022 campaign.
