A 24-year-old mother of two, Cherrish Nunley, was reportedly shot several times, according to her sister.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville family is desperately seeking answers following the tragic discovery of a woman’s body behind a business in Mandarin on Saturday evening.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported that officers responded to a call shortly after 5 p.m. on the 3800 block of Sunbeam Road, where they discovered a woman unresponsive behind a local business. Emergency services declared her dead at the scene.

By Sunday, her sister had identified the victim as Cherrish Nunley, a young mother of two children.

Speaking with First Coast News, Nunley’s sister revealed that Cherrish was her only surviving family member. She suspects her sister was fatally shot several times near the Chuze Fitness on Sunbeam Road; however, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has yet to officially confirm the cause of death.

JSO has also not released Nunley’s name and says the investigation remains active. Detectives noted there is no threat to the community at this time.

Nunley’s sister is now pleading for the public’s help in identifying whoever is responsible.

“She was killed in cold blood. She never got into trouble. She was a bright, beautiful girl, a wonderful mom and aunt, the best sister, and a great daughter,” wrote the sister on a GoFundMe page. “We will forever remember her, and she will not be another statistic. We will fight for justice. We will fight for her babies. We will fight for her.”

  • Officers responded around 5:06 p.m. Saturday.

  • The victim was found behind a business in Mandarin.

  • She was pronounced dead on scene.

  • JSO has not confirmed the manner of death or any suspect information.

  • The case remains open and active.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office or call Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous.
