(The Hill) – Representative Clay Higgins of Louisiana stood alone in opposing a House bill designed to make public unclassified documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender.

Higgins expressed his steadfast opposition in a statement on social media platform X, explaining, “I’ve consistently opposed this bill from the start. The issues it had three months ago remain unresolved. It disregards centuries of established criminal justice procedures in the United States.”

He further elaborated, “The bill, as it stands, could unjustly expose and harm countless innocent individuals, including witnesses, those providing alibis, and family members. If passed in its current form, releasing such broad criminal investigation files to an eager media would undoubtedly hurt innocent parties. I cannot support this.”
