Nigerian comedian Basketmouth has weighed in on the altercation that recently erupted between social media commentator VeryDarkMan and comedian Mr Jollof.

As reported by the DAILY POST, the two were taken into custody by the Delta State Police Command on Monday, November 17, 2025, following a physical confrontation that occurred on a United Nigerian Airlines flight.

In an Instagram video, Basketmouth expressed his disappointment, labeling the event as “embarrassing.” Reflecting on his own ongoing feud with fellow comedian AY Makun, he noted, “It never escalated to the point where we threw punches.”

Basketmouth urged for more peaceful resolutions, questioning how disagreements could escalate to such a degree. He commented, “I watched Mr Jollof and VDM fighting inside a plane, in such a confined space. These are grown men, yet they ended up in a scuffle. It made me wonder, how did we end up here? Despite my issues with AY, it never came to blows. This is truly embarrassing. Why can’t we live harmoniously?”

Encouraging harmony and understanding among people, Basketmouth questioned how conflicts escalate to such extremes. He said, “I watched the video of Mr Jollof and VDM fighting in a public spaceinside a plane, of all places. Even with limited space, these grown men still ended up in a fight. And I asked myself, how did we get here? Me and AY have had issues for a long time, but it never reached the point of throwing punches. How embarrassing is this? Why can’t we just live in peace?”

The tension between the two arose after VeryDarkMan accused Mr Jollof’s wife of engaging in relationships with politicians and Yahoo boys to help her husband secure a political role in Delta State. Following these claims, the couple filed a N500 million defamation suit against VeryDarkMan.
