On Monday, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Texas successfully apprehended a Mexican national who was on the run, accused of a brutal murder committed after he had been deported.

The suspect, Hernan Perez Juarez, also known by the alias “Patricio Perez,” aged 41, is facing murder charges related to the grim discovery of a woman’s body on May 8, 2020. The victim was found dead in her bathtub in Georgetown, Texas, with a severe wound in her lower abdomen.

According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Perez Juarez had been deported in 2018 due to an immigration violation and did not possess legal status in the United States.

The U.S. Marshals provided a photo of Hernan Perez Juarez's recent arrest.

The authorities suspect that he illegally reentered the United States before the murder. His vehicle was eventually discovered abandoned in Laredo, close to the Mexican border, as reported by the U.S. Marshals.

In March 2022, the Georgetown Police Department (GPD) obtained an arrest warrant for Perez Juarez, though the case stalled due to his unknown whereabouts.

Earlier this month, an Austin-based task force learned Perez Juarez returned to the U.S. illegally, according to the U.S. Marshals.

He was arrested in Temple, Texas on Monday and taken to the Williamson County Jail awaiting further judicial proceedings.

ICE has filed an immigration detainer on Perez Juarez following the judicial process in Williamson County, according to the U.S. Marshals.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
