Decatur school’s time capsule dug up after 20 years

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — A wave of excitement swept through a gathering of children as a piece of history was brought to light. Marking the 50th anniversary of Michael Baum Elementary, the school unveiled a time capsule that had been resting underground for the past two decades in Decatur.

Principal Sergio Reyna expressed fascination with the contents of the time capsule. Among the historical treasures were a blank report card, an office referral, the school’s code of conduct, and a yearbook from 2005, providing a glimpse into the past.
