ERWIN, Tenn. (WJHL) — A crowd of local residents gathered on Thursday to commemorate the start of construction for the new BlueCross Healthy Place at Fishery Park in Erwin.

According to a statement from park officials, this initiative is set to be a “transformative project” that aims to revitalize the park with new renovations and enhance its accessibility, making it more inviting for families seeking recreational activities.

“Fishery Park has been a cherished part of Erwin for countless years,” remarked Amanda Delp, the executive director of the Unicoi County Chamber of Commerce. “Generations have enjoyed what this park offers, and it was in dire need of a significant upgrade. This transformation would not have been possible without the generous support from Blue Cross and the accompanying grant.”
