United States Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee is facing intense backlash after reports revealed he secretly met with convicted US spy Jonathan Pollard at the US Embassy in Jerusalem in July, without notifying the White House or State Department.
Jonathan Pollard, known for leaking top-secret US intelligence to Israel, remains a highly debated figure in the realm of US-Israel relations. Recently, a clandestine meeting involving former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee has stirred significant controversy, particularly among vocal America First advocates.
Political analyst Saagar Enjeti expressed his disapproval, stating, “Mike Huckabee, currently the US Ambassador to Israel, held a secretive meeting with the convicted American spy for Israel, Jonathan Pollard, at the US embassy in July.” Tucker Carlson also weighed in, labeling the incident as “alarming behavior from a US ambassador,” and questioning, “Will Huckabee provide an explanation?”
Journalist Max Blumenthal emphasized, “Jonathan Pollard was an Israeli spy who handed over extensive US intelligence secrets to Tel Aviv.” He continued, “Now, Pollard is seen celebrating Israel’s nuclear leverage over the US.” Blumenthal further revealed, “Pollard claims he met secretly with US Ambassador Mike Huckabee without the knowledge of the White House.”
Further escalating the outcry, former CIA officer John Kiriakou harshly criticized Huckabee’s conduct, warning that meeting Pollard off the books and without necessary authorization was “unforgivable.” Kiriakou argued that Huckabee should resign or be fired for breaching protocol and betraying American trust.
The revelation compounds growing unease within America First conservatives about officials perceived as prioritizing foreign loyalties over US interests. With the White House reportedly unaware of the meeting, questions mount about accountability at the highest levels of American diplomacy.
This incident is a stark reminder of the urgent need to remove Israel loyalists from positions entrusted with protecting America’s national security. The American people deserve ambassadors who serve the interests of the United States, not foreign governments or controversial spies. Until those responsible are held to account, credibility and trust in US foreign policy will continue to erode.
