Upon responding to an emergency call, police and fire department personnel encountered the two individuals unresponsive in a utility room. Both had sustained severe injuries that were irreversible, and they were pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials from the Arlington Heights Police Department revealed that there is evidence indicating the victims had a professional relationship, with one serving in a supervisory capacity over the other.

They were identified as 53-year-old Juan Medina and Steven M. Weigenensberg, whose age was not listed, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said Saturday. Their deaths were both ruled homicides, but their causes of death were still not known.

A death investigation is underway and no further information was available.
