In a recent incident on the bustling I-75 corridor, two individuals found themselves in legal trouble following a high-speed chase. Brianna Monique Ward, a 22-year-old resident of Ocala, and Travarious Deshaun Wilson, 28, from Bronson, are now facing serious drug-related charges. The pair was apprehended after their vehicle was clocked at a staggering 101 mph, leading to a traffic stop by authorities.

On the morning of November 21, the Florida Highway Patrol Trooper intervened when a Volkswagen Jetta zipped past on SW Archer Road, significantly exceeding speed limits. The situation escalated quickly when the officer detected a strong scent of marijuana emanating from the vehicle, prompting him to ask Wilson, the driver, to step out for questioning.

In the ensuing conversation, Ward, who was riding as a passenger, claimed possession of a medical marijuana card but was unable to produce any proof. Meanwhile, Wilson distanced himself from any marijuana use, denying any association with the substance. However, the trooper noted Wilson’s demeanor as “extremely nervous,” raising further suspicions.

The subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a cache of concerning items. Inside the glove compartment, authorities discovered a loaded Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol alongside rolling papers. In Wilson’s purse, officers reportedly found around 21 grams of marijuana. Additional scrutiny of the area behind the driver’s seat uncovered 80 grams of marijuana, packaging materials, a scale, and a loaded Glock 26.

The investigation extended to the trunk, where a significant haul was reportedly found. This included a Glock 19, another scale, a tray, 9.5 grams of mushrooms, 302 grams of THC gummies in commercial packaging, 3.5 grams of THC wax, assorted baggies, and eight tablets that tested positive for MDMA.

Post Miranda, Ward reportedly said the guns and marijuana were hers.

Post Miranda, Wilson reportedly said the guns and marijuana were not his.

However, the trooper reported that the in-car video in the patrol vehicle recorded Ward asking Wilson what was in the car; Wilson reportedly said, “Weed and gun” and then said there were two guns.

Ward has been charged with two counts of possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, maintaining a vehicle for the purpose of selling drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to sell. Her full criminal history is unavailable, but she has convictions for possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and possession of drug equipment out of Marion County. Judge Robert Groeb set bail at $110,000.

Wilson has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, two counts of possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, maintaining a vehicle for the purpose of selling drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to sell. His full criminal history is unavailable, but he has three felony convictions and three misdemeanor convictions out of Levy County, including discharging a weapon in public. Judge Groeb set his bail at $170,000.
