In response to the crash, Metra issued alerts to passengers, informing them of disruptions on both directions of the UPNW line. Specifically, train #725, which was supposed to reach Harvard at 8:20 PM, was halted at Cumberland due to the accident. Passengers were advised to use train #727 for their journey to Harvard. Similarly, train #732, scheduled to leave Harvard at 8:35 PM, was unable to operate between Harvard and Mount Prospect. Metra arranged for train #734, departing at 9:35 PM, to accommodate the affected travelers.
