After over ten years of marriage, Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker have decided to part ways.

“Following much reflection and prayer, I have chosen to proceed with a divorce. This is a challenging and emotional period, but my priority remains on maintaining my peace, being an excellent mother, and co-parenting with kindness and consideration,” Burruss shared with People.

“I am embarking on a new chapter where I will focus on my career, family, and personal growth. I am thankful for everyone who has supported us over the years and kindly request privacy, empathy, and understanding as our family navigates this change,” she added.

Burruss, 49, and Tucker, 52, first met while filming the fourth season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta in 2011. They got engaged in early 2013 and tied the knot in April of the following year.

During their marriage, they welcomed two children together—son Ace, 9, and daughter Blaze, 5—and nurtured their older children from previous relationships: Burruss’ daughter Riley, 23, and Tucker’s daughter Kaela, 29.

As recently as 2022, Burruss publicly praised the foundation of their relationship, telling People that the key to their marriage was “just great communication and having fun together.” She added at the time, “We have a real understanding of each other.”

Over the years, the pair became known for their professional partnership as much as their personal one, teaming up on multiple ventures including their Georgia soul food restaurant chain, a trucking business, and their Bravo spinoff centered on family and the restaurant world.

Just last month, the Grammy-winning songwriter accepted the Wifetime Achievement Award at The Bravos during BravoCon 2025 — and gave Tucker a heartfelt shoutout in her speech.

“To Todd, thank you for surviving the blogs the shade, the rumors, the lies, the truth, the almost fights, the actual fights, the reunions… You earned this award too,” she said.

Beyond reality TV, Burruss has built a powerhouse résumé in theater. After making her Broadway debut in Chicago in 2018, she returns on December 11 in & Juliet. As a producer, she’s earned a Tony nomination for The Piano Lesson and has backed acclaimed productions including The Wiz, Thoughts of a Colored Man, and last season’s star-studded Othello.

In past interviews, Burruss had reflected on how aligned she and Tucker once were creatively. “We have intertwined our wants and desires,” she told People. “We have all these dreams, and sometimes, I’ll be all out of the box, but he’ll still be like, ‘Okay babe, let’s do it.’”

Before their split, the couple frequently celebrated their love publicly — including heartfelt posts for their eighth wedding anniversary in 2022. Burruss shared a video montage set to her song “Forever Love,” writing, “You were the perfect man for me. I’m a better me with you! 😘❤️ 8 years down & a lifetime to go!”
