A man in his mid-20s is on the mend after suffering a gunshot wound to his back, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. The incident took place prior to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, near Green Street.
Authorities report that the shooting stemmed from a confrontation involving multiple individuals, which intensified after weapons were brandished.
Following the altercation, the suspect responsible for the shooting was promptly apprehended. Other individuals involved in the scuffle were detained and are cooperating with law enforcement officials, as per JSO’s statements.
Investigators say this started from a fight involving several people that escalated once weapons were shown.Â
The suspect who used the gun was taken into custody shortly after the incident, while the others involved were reportedly detained and cooperated with law enforcement.
The man shot was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is still ongoing, but authorities say this appears to be an isolated incident.
