Donald Glover, renowned for his musical persona Childish Gambino, has candidly shared details of a health crisis that led to the abrupt cancellation of his tour last year. Initially described merely as an “ailment,” Glover recently revealed during a performance that he had suffered a stroke.

The revelation came during his appearance at Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw festival in Los Angeles. Glover, 42, addressed the audience, explaining his absence and the seriousness of his condition, which quickly spread across social media platforms.

“You guys voted for a ‘where have I been monologue,'” Glover began. “I experienced severe head pain while in Louisiana, yet I performed despite the discomfort. My vision was impaired, prompting a hospital visit in Houston, where the doctor informed me that I had experienced a stroke.”

Reflecting on the ordeal, Glover expressed feelings of disappointment and regret, mentioning that he has yet to visit Ireland. He also disclosed undergoing two surgical procedures after doctors discovered a hole in his heart.

“They say everyone has two lives, and the second starts when you realize you only have one,” Glover philosophized. “You have one life, folks, and I must say, sharing mine with you has been an incredible blessing.”

His representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
