Warning: Spoilers Ahead for “Wicked: For Good”

This weekend, “Wicked: For Good” is set to draw crowds to the theaters, offering fans a nostalgic glimpse into Glinda’s (Ariana Grande) past. In a captivating flashback, viewers will see Scarlett Spears portray a young Glinda, capturing the ambitious spirit of her character. Curious about Spears and her journey in showbiz? Check out our video above, which highlights key moments from her blossoming career.

The flashback scene reveals a young Galinda Upland dreaming of wielding magical powers, a wish she carries into adulthood. When she receives a wand as a birthday gift, she hopes it’s the key to unlocking her abilities. During her party, Galinda attempts a magic trick, but her efforts fall flat. Fortunately, a rainbow appears outside her window at just the right moment. Seizing the opportunity, Galinda claims credit, impressing her guests. This scene underscores her knack for charm, which later supports her role as the charismatic, yet secretly non-magical, representative for The Wizard of Oz (Jeff Goldblum). Such deception fuels a popular theory suggesting Glinda might be the true antagonist in “The Wizard of Oz.” While Glinda’s allure may be superficial, Spears undeniably shines with genuine talent—a fact well known to fans of a certain ABC soap opera.

Scarlett Spears’ acting portfolio, though brief, is impressive. Television audiences may recognize her as Donna Corinthos, the daughter of mob boss Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernard) and Carly Spencer-Corinthos (Laura Wright) on “General Hospital.” Spears has portrayed Donna for three years, continuing to delight viewers with her recurring appearances.

Interestingly, “Wicked: For Good” isn’t Spears’ first venture into playing younger versions of established characters. She also took on the role of young Dora (Samantha Lorraine) in the Paramount+ film “Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado.” Additionally, Spears appeared in the Investigation Discovery series “Evil Lives Here: Shadows of Death,” portraying a fictionalized real-life crime victim named Jade. Music fans may even recognize her as the tantrum-throwing little girl in P!nk’s music video “Never Gonna Not Dance Again.” This diverse experience is quite an achievement for someone who began acting in 2022. Scarlett Spears is a soap opera veteran

Scarlett Spears has a short but sweet resume. TV fans will most likely recognize her as Donna Corinthos, daughter of mob don Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernard) and his ex-wife Carly Spencer-Corinthos (Laura Wright) on “General Hospital.” Spears has been holding down the part of Donna for three years, and continues to play the role on a recurring basis.

Interestingly, “Wicked: For Good” isn’t the first time she’s been called upon to play a younger version of a grown-up character — Spears also played the child version of Dora (Samantha Lorraine) in the Paramount+ exclusive film “Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado.” She showed up in the Investigation Discovery docuseries “Evil Lives Here: Shadows of Death,” as a fictionalized version of a real-life crime victim named Jade. You can also spot Spears as a little girl having a tantrum in the P!nk music video “Never Gonna Not Dance Again.” That’s a pretty healthy roll call for someone who’s only been in the acting game since 2022.
