As Emma Baum approaches the final stretch of her pregnancy, she receives news on October 4 that she’s already one centimeter dilated.
Just six days later, with anticipation growing, Emma enlists her sister to drive her to the home of her boyfriend and soon-to-be father, Antwon Butler, in Gary, Indiana, on a Thursday evening. Emma reassures her sister that they will reunite the next day before heading inside.
By Friday, Emma’s family becomes concerned when she fails to make contact, despite plans for her to return home. After a tense weekend, her mother, Jamie Baum, reaches out to Butler for answers. He claims Emma is not with him, mentioning he last saw her leaving with a girl in a car.
Suspicions rise as Butler’s account shifts repeatedly, prompting Emma’s family to question his honesty. They report her disappearance to the police, emphasizing that Antwon Butler was the last known person to have seen her.
Coincidentally, Butler is also wanted for failing to appear in court, leading to his arrest on unrelated charges, further complicating the search for Emma.
Weeks of searching for Emma have led to no results, and the family of Emma Baum are at a loss for what to do next.
Standing in front of Antwon Butler’s house in Gary, the family asks local TV crews to get the word out, begging for the safe return of the mom of three and her newborn.
