Monroe County Sheriff's Office employee charged with DUI after off-duty crash

MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — An incident involving a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office staff member has resulted in charges of driving under the influence. The employee, Josh Woods, was off duty when the crash occurred on Saturday.

According to a statement from the MCSO released shortly before 10:30 p.m., Woods, who serves in the Court Services Division, was involved in the accident that took place Saturday evening.

Following the crash, Woods was transported to UT Medical Center, where the Tennessee Highway Patrol arrested him for DUI.

“We are committed to maintaining transparency with our community, which is why we are sharing this information as quickly as possible,” stated Monroe County Sheriff Tommy Jones.

Sheriff Jones also mentioned that the sheriff’s office is actively seeking further details about the incident and plans to provide more updates in the upcoming days.
