Robert Irwin suffers major injury hours before 'DWTS' finale

Just hours before he and his partner Witney Carson were set to grace the stage for the Season 34 finale of “Dancing with the Stars” on Tuesday night, Robert Irwin encountered a shocking injury.

In a detailed TikTok video, Carson shared news about the 21-year-old wildlife conservationist’s mishap, though she chose not to divulge the specifics of the incident. The professional dancer assured fans that the full story would unfold during the final episode of the season.

“Both our bodies are feeling the strain. Robert’s feeling it, and so am I. We’re practically falling apart at this point,” Carson, 32, admitted on Monday. “We’re just trying to hold it together for two more days—today and tomorrow—and then we’re done.”

“Robert’s ribs have been really bothering him, and there’s more to come on Tuesday,” she added, hinting that the finale will provide viewers with a clearer picture of the challenges they faced throughout the week.

The Post has reached out to Irwin’s rep for comment.

Carson, who filmed her TikTok video while preparing for the final “camera blocking” of Season 34, went on to detail how she and Steve Irwin’s son were getting ready for their final performance.

“So I’m headed to rehearsal first, just to clean up Robert and what we need to do for blocking, and then we go to Television City to lock the freestyle,” she explained. “And then we’re gonna go back to the studio to rehearse even more, because this is the last chance, and knowing Robert, he’s going to want to rehearse till the very last second.”

“Last night we stayed at the studio till it closed down,” Carson added. “Like, they had to kick us out at 9 p.m. We’re gonna have absolutely no regrets by the end of this.”

The former “So You Think You Can Dance” contestant and Irwin are one of five pairs competing for the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy in the three-hour “DWTS” season finale on Tuesday night.

They are up against influencer Alix Earle and Valentin Chmerkovskiy, Olympic gold medalist Jordan Chiles and Ezra Sosa, Dylan Efron and Daniella Karagach, and actress Elaine Hendrix and Alan Bersten.

Although Carson described her experience this season as “11 weeks of crazy, vigorous [and] hard dancing,” she admitted it was an “emotional” ride with a “bittersweet” ending.

“I was so emotional yesterday, I literally couldn’t stop crying,” she shared. “I think for a bunch of different reasons. I think I’m emotionally and physically exhausted, but also that this whole experience is coming to an end. It just feels very bittersweet.”

As for her plans once this season of “DWTS” comes to an end, Carson revealed she is “very ready” to depart Los Angeles and return to her home and family in Florida.

The pro dancer then gushed over Irwin and the time they spent working together to make it to the very end of the season.

“I really do feel like I’ve already won in this experience with Robert as my partner, and the experiences and the memories that we’ve shared have been so special, and just this entire season just feels like the biggest gift,” Carson said.

“I’m just so thankful and thankful for everyone that has voted, that got us here, and won’t start crying,” she concluded.

Irwin, meanwhile, has received some surprising support from high-profile figures like Prince William, Russell Crowe and Jonathan Bailey amid his “DWTS” journey.

However, the Australian wildlife conservationist wouldn’t be the first one in his family to compete on – and possibly win – the hit dancing competition.

Bindi Irwin, his older sister, brought home the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy after winning Season 21 of “DWTS” in 2015. The 27-year-old was partnered with Derek Hough.

“There is no sibling rivalry,” Irwin told People during the annual Steve Irwin Gala earlier this year. “It’s actually really nice.”

“She has just said, ‘Go into this and make it your own,’” he added. “She said it’s going to be a completely different experience.”
