Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, confirmed their release in a statement on Tuesday.

“I am relieved that all 24 girls are now safe. It is imperative that we enhance security measures in vulnerable regions to prevent future abductions. My administration is committed to providing all necessary support to ensure this,” President Tinubu stated.

The President expressed gratitude to the security forces for their diligent efforts in freeing the girls and urged them to continue their operations to rescue any remaining students who may still be held captive.

President Tinubu commended the security agencies for their efforts in securing the girls’ freedom and called on them to intensify operations to rescue any students still in captivity.

Last week, it was reported that bandits stormed the school hostel on Monday, abducting 25 female students while one managed to escape.

Following the attack, President Tinubu ordered the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, to relocate to Kebbi to coordinate rescue efforts, while praising the security agencies for their success, he also warned that the work was not yet done.

The attacks sparked national outrage and renewed calls for stronger protection of schools in rural areas, particularly in Nigeria’s North-West, where banditry remains widespread.
