As the Dancing With The Stars finale looms, Robert Irwin, a leading contender, is grappling with a painful rib injury that has put a strain on both him and his dance partner, Witney Carson.
Carson took to TikTok on Monday to update fans about her partner, the renowned wildlife conservationist. She mentioned that after nearly three months of intense rehearsals, both she and Irwin are feeling the pressure as they approach the Season 34 finale.
In a “Get Ready With Me” video, Carson shared insights into the challenges of the season, including Irwin’s current injury, which he has not publicly addressed yet.
“Robert’s ribs have been really bothering him, and we’ll share more details on Tuesday,” Carson explained in the video. She encouraged viewers to tune in to get a clearer picture of the hurdles they’ve faced this week.
Carson admitted, “My body is feeling it, and so is Robert’s. We’re kind of coming apart at the seams right now, just trying to hold it together for two more days. Today and tomorrow, and then we’re done.” The dancer, who is also a mother of two, expressed that she is both emotionally and physically drained as they approach the much-anticipated moment when the next Mirrorball Trophy champion is announced.
Carson — who has won the award once before with now-host Alfonso Ribeiro — did not elaborate more on the nature of Irwin’s injury but shared that all will be revealed during the three-hour finale on Tuesday evening. Fans in the comments of Carson’s video shared their optimism that they will push through and end up victorious by the end of the night.
“Oh no poor Robert… not the time to have a rib problem 😢 Hope it doesn’t affect what you can do for your freestyle too much. Voting for you guys!! 💕,” one person responded.
It’s been a rough season for injuries in the cast of Dancing With the Stars as several weeks back, Elaine Hendrix — who is also competing in the November 24 Season 34 finale — was benched briefly and taken to the hospital stemming from rib pain. That is on top of the pain she previously spoke about in her foot, related to a car accident years ago.
As for whether or not Irwin or Hendrix will claim this year’s title, or if it will be one of the other three remaining contenders — Dylan Efron, Jordan Chiles, and Alix Earle — fans will just have to tune in to find out.
The Dancing With the Stars Season 34 finale airs on Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and Disney+. The episode will also stream the next day on Hulu.
