An AMBER Alert has been activated for a two-month-old infant from Georgia who authorities say was kidnapped on Tuesday in Clayton County.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that 25-year-old Tariq Denzell Williams is suspected of abducting his son, Roman Williams, from an area near Fielder Road and Mount Zion Boulevard.
It’s alleged that before making his escape, Williams assaulted the baby’s mother and then drove off in a silver 2017 Volkswagen Passat.
“The vehicle was last detected heading toward I-75, and investigators suspect that Williams is moving south, possibly aiming to reach Florida,” stated Clayton police.
According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, the abduction occurred around 8:35 a.m.
Williams is wanted on charges that include kidnapping, battery, theft of a motor vehicle, cruelty to children, and 911 call interference.
He’s described as standing 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing 120 pounds.
“Anyone with information regarding the suspect, the child or the vehicle is urged to contact 911 immediately,” police said.
