Law enforcement responding after 2 National Guard members shot near White House

On Wednesday, a shooting incident erupted near downtown Washington, D.C., close to the Farragut Metro Station and within a short distance from the White House, prompting a swift response from authorities.

According to two sources, Fox News has confirmed that the incident involved two National Guard members being shot approximately a mile from the White House. However, there has yet to be any update on their conditions.

In the wake of the shooting, the DC Metro Police have taken one suspect into custody, signaling a rapid development in the investigation.

National Guard troops have been stationed near a key intersection as part of the response to the situation. The incident has resulted in heightened security measures, including the lockdown of the White House, even though President Trump was not present at the time of the shooting.

The White House has also been placed on lockdown following the shooting while President Trump is not on site.

Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel have both been briefed and are receiving continuous updates, according to reports.
