Nine National Affairs Editor Andrew Probyn recognised at journalism awards

Nine has been celebrated for its exceptional journalism, with 9News National Affairs Editor Andrew Probyn receiving the top honor in the television/video news reporting category at the prestigious Walkley Awards.

Probyn was awarded for his insightful report on Russian gangsters and the Medibank hack, during a ceremony held in Sydney last night.

His report revealed how cyber experts from the Australian Signals Directorate smashed a multi-million-dollar business run by Russians gangsters that targeted the data of major businesses, including private health insurer Medibank Private.

Journalists from The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald excelled, securing wins in six categories at the awards, which highlight outstanding contributions to journalism.

The team from The Age was recognized for their coverage of the trial of Victorian woman Erin Patterson, who was convicted of the mushroom-related murders of three individuals.

Investigative journalist Eryk Bagshaw, Good Food writer Bianca Hrovat, and crime reporter Claire Sibthorpe were honored with the news reporting Walkley for their in-depth exploration into the darker aspects of the hospitality industry.

Good Weekend senior writer Melissa Fyfe won the best feature writing award in the short category for her examination of forced marriages in Australia.
