Authorities have made further arrests in connection with the alleged violence at an anti-immigration rally that took place in central Melbourne last month.

Police continue to investigate the events of Saturday, October 19, which saw counter-demonstrators accused of hurling rocks, glass bottles, and rotten fruit at law enforcement officers.

As a result of the clashes with counter-protesters, two police officers required hospitalization.

Law enforcement officials reported that one officer sustained a broken hand, while another suffered a leg laceration.

On Tuesday, following searches at several Melbourne locations, two men were taken into custody.

A Port Melbourne man, 21, was charged with two counts of assaulting police and two counts of hindering police.

A 56-year-old from Kilsyth was also charged with assaulting police and hindering police.

Both men were granted bail and are scheduled to appear in court next May.

The investigation has now led to a total of three people being charged, with police continuing to seek the public’s help to identify those involved.
