In a warm Thanksgiving tradition at Mar-a-Lago, the Trump family gathered to celebrate, and former President Trump took a moment to reach out to the U.S. military. He extended gratitude for their dedication and the sacrifices they make daily for the nation.
According to RedState, the call turned somber as Trump relayed the devastating news about 20-year-old Sarah Beckstrom. She was one of two National Guard members injured in a terrorist attack on Wednesday in Washington, D.C., and unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries.
“She has passed away. She’s no longer with us,” Trump announced. “She’s watching over us now. Her parents are by her side.”
Throughout the gathering, Trump engaged with reporters, discussing the attack’s suspect, 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, an Afghan national. He also reiterated his stance from Wednesday night, emphasizing the need to re-evaluate all Afghans who entered the U.S. during former President Joe Biden’s administration, particularly those admitted following the 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal.
During the event, Trump also went back and forth with reporters over the suspect in the attack, 29-year-old Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, and the announcement Trump made Wednesday night about how all Afghans who came into the country under former President Joe Biden, especially those who were taken in after the deadly 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal, needed to be re-vetted.
