Benedict Bryant, aged 47, was convicted on Friday for dangerous driving that resulted in the death of 16-year-old Dunghutti youth Jai Kalani Wright. The incident occurred in February 2022 in an inner suburb of Sydney.
Outside the courtroom, a supporter of Bryant announced plans to appeal the decision, arguing that the tragedy might have been avoided if everyone involved had been “at home, where they should be.”
The supporter emphasized the necessity for police accountability, stating that the public should be able to trust law enforcement to ensure their safety during interactions. The supporter criticized the actions of certain officers, calling them a betrayal of public trust.
