Just days after concluding the 34th season of Dancing With the Stars, Hailey Bills found herself nursing a potential broken nose. However, the injury wasn’t a result of her dancing endeavors.
In a lighthearted TikTok video posted on Thursday, November 27, the 19-year-old dancer humorously addressed her followers, saying, “Happy Thanksgiving,” while displaying her nose injury as she headed to get it checked out.
Bills, a member of the DWTS troupe, appeared swollen around her nose, with red spots resembling blood marking her face. She injected humor into the situation by setting her video to a “female rage” audio clip, before disclosing the culprit behind her mishap.
“For our Thanksgiving activity, my dad wanted us to play a tic-tac-toe game,” Bills recounted. “I was diving to place my X on the board when my brother inadvertently kicked me in the face.”
The professional athlete called the injury “one of the top three worst pains I’ve ever felt.”
Bills noted, “The nose might be broken,” but she was on her way to “get it checked out” as she filmed from the backseat of a car.
“My dad has a friend, he’s a plastic surgeon. So, we’re going to go get it checked out,” she said. “I’ll keep you updated.”

Despite being in pain, Bills managed to give her followers a sweet shout-out before signing off. “Happy Thanks, love you all,” she added.
Ahead of her holiday injury, Bills had one of the most exciting fall seasons of her young life. She was one of four new dancers named to the DWTS troupe group for season 34, which premiered in September. (The season finale aired on Tuesday, November 25.)
Hailey, who was previously a Dancing With the Stars: Junior pro, soon became a fan favorite after viewers learned she is Jenna Johnson’s niece.
Johnson, 31, got her start on DWTS as a troupe dancer during season 23 in 2016 before becoming a pro in 2018. Johnson, who is married to Val Chmerkovskiy, has won two mirrorball trophies.
Bills, meanwhile, documented her first season on the ABC competition series via Instagram throughout the fall and gave a shout-out to her DWTS family on Thanksgiving — before she was hit in the face by her brother.
“Thankful today… Especially for the experience I just had the privilege to have. I’m forever changed — these past few months will always be cherished in my heart,” she wrote via Instagram on Thursday alongside pictures from the season. “I’m so fortunate to have gotten an opportunity full of so many lessons and beautiful people. I’ve been living in an absolute dream and I can’t believe it went by so quickly!”
Bills gushed, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart to EVERY single person who took a part in this season. You’ve all impacted me more than you could imagine. So incredibly grateful. @dancingwiththestars 💌.”
Later that day, Bills shared a photo of her family via her Instagram Story in honor of the holiday. “So incredibly grateful for my family! My whole [heart]. I love them so much,” she captioned the snap.
