Actor Billy Crudup recently shared a rare insight into his co-parenting dynamic with ex-partner Mary-Louise Parker, more than two decades after their split due to his relationship with Claire Danes.
In an interview published Thursday by the Times, Crudup stated, “Well, without commenting on any of our…” while discussing their relationship.
Parker, star of “Weeds,” was seven months pregnant with their child when Crudup began a romance with his “Stage Beauty” co-star, Claire Danes. The couple had been together for seven years at that time.
Their son, William Atticus Parker, now 21, has stepped into the entertainment industry himself as a writer, director, and actor, following in the footsteps of his famous parents.
Crudup proudly shared, “He has, through the mash-up of the two of us, been endowed with superpowers for theatricality,” in his conversation with the outlet.
“He’s such a badass,” he added. “Mary-Louise and I appeared in most of his films.”
A rep for Parker did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Crudup, now 57, and Parker, 61, met as co-stars in the Broadway production of “Bus Stop” in 1996.
The “Morning Show” actor met Danes — who was then dating Ben Lee — in 2003, and after both left their respective partners, they went public in 2004.
Danes and Crudup went their separate ways in 2007, but the widely publicized romance left an impression on all involved.
Danes later told Howard Stern that she “didn’t quite know what those consequences would be” when she fell in love with Crudup.
“You have to live with the mistakes that you make,” Crudup told the Times back in 2017.
Parker, meanwhile, detailed her heartbreak in “Dear Mr. You,” her 2015 memoir.
“I am pregnant and alone. It hurts to even breathe,” she wrote in part via a note to a cab driver who was transporting her to a doctor appointment.
In 2007, Parker went on to adopt daughter Ash, 18, from Ethiopia, and she was briefly engaged to “Weeds” co-star Jeffrey Dean Morgan in 2008.
Danes, now 46, married Hugh Dancy in 2009, and the couple has since welcomed three children.
Crudup tied the knot with Oscar winner Naomi Watts in 2023 — and despite their complicated past, Parker had only supportive words for Crudup and Watts.
“I wish them well,” Parker told the Guardian.
“And absolutely, I honestly of course wish them every happiness because that’s my son’s father. So I’m happy for them. I’m happy they found each other.”
