ACT Policing is urging the mother of the newborn baby to seek medical attention.

Police are looking for dashcam footage after a a newborn baby was dumped outside a fire station on the outskirts of Canberra on Thursday.

A newborn was discovered outside the entrance of South Tuggeranong ACT Fire & Rescue Station in Conder, approximately 30 kilometers from the city center, at around 7:20 a.m. on November 27.

Authorities, aided by tips from the public, suspect that a blue SUV was present at the fire station, situated at the intersection of Tharwa and Drakeford Drives, prior to the baby’s abandonment.

“Following guidance from an ACT Ambulance Service clinician, the firefighters brought the infant inside, provided care, and notified ACTAS, the Australian Federal Police, and ACT Policing for support,” stated Chris White, superintendent of ACT Fire & Rescue.

The infant, believed to be just a day old, was transported to the hospital via ambulance, showing no apparent injuries.

“Our primary concern is ensuring the mother’s health and safety,” expressed ACT Policing detective superintendent Alex Nicolson.

“I urge the mother to seek medical assistance. Please go to hospital, call an ambulance or call the police.”

Investigators are urging anyone with dashcam footage of the fire station between 5am and 7.30am on Thursday to come forward.

Locals who believe a friend or family member may be the mother are asked to encourage her to seek medical help as soon as possible.
