A 21-year-old man, Evert Luna, has been taken into custody by Glynn County police, accused of an attempted kidnapping involving two young girls on Thanksgiving Day.
In a statement released on Friday, the Glynn County Police Department detailed the arrest, which occurred after Luna allegedly tried to abduct two 12-year-old girls on November 27 in Jacksonville, Fla.
The incident unfolded near Burnett Road and New Jesup Highway, where officers swiftly responded to an emergency call. Witnesses reported that Luna had approached the girls and attempted to grab their arms in an effort to make them leave with him.
Thanks to a quick response from patrol officers, the suspect was apprehended nearby shortly after the incident was reported. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division were also on the scene, conducting interviews with witnesses and Luna, while collecting further evidence.
Luna now faces charges of two counts of Enticing a Child for Indecent Purposes, as the investigation continues. The authorities have yet to release further details regarding the case.
First Coast News has requested Luna’s mugshot and arrest report for more details.
