A festive evening in Annapolis took a terrifying turn when a Maryland man allegedly threatened a group of Christmas carolers with a firearm. The incident unfolded when three 12-year-old girls, out to spread holiday cheer, found themselves staring down the barrel of a gun instead of receiving a warm welcome.

The suspect, 58-year-old Paul Brian Susie, reportedly brandished a loaded .40-caliber Glock from the window of his home as the girls knocked on his door around 8:30 p.m. on a Saturday evening. According to Anne Arundel County Police, the young carolers had knocked twice and announced their intentions to sing Christmas tunes when Susie appeared at the window, escalating the situation to a frightening level.

The unexpected confrontation understandably sent the girls fleeing in fear. In the aftermath, one of the girls’ mothers contacted the authorities to report the alarming encounter. As a result, Susie now faces assault charges for his actions during what should have been a joyous holiday activity.

The festive crooners had knocked twice — announcing they were there to carol — when the yuletide grinch popped up in a bay window beside the front door and flashed the gun, court documents obtained by WUSA9 showed.

The frightened preteens took off running, with one mom later alerting cops about the chilling incident.

The alleged gun-toting curmudgeon allegedly told police he had been drinking with his wife and watching TV before the carolers showed up at his Point No Point Drive home, the court docs said.

Police said Susie — who reportedly admitted to threatening the young girls — was drunk, “loud” and “belligerent” when they cuffed him, the outlet reported.

Authorities recovered the loaded handgun from Susie’s gun safe and confirmed he had a Maryland Handgun Permit through the Maryland Gun Center.

The scrooge was charged with first- and second-degree assault and thrown behind bars.

Susie was released from custody the next day after posting a $10,000 unsecure bond, the outlet reported.

He is due back in court on Dec. 17.
