Press release from TheColdCases.com

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – TheColdCases.com has unveiled an exclusive conversation with Ann Patrick, whose mother, Maureen L. “Cookie” Rowan, was recently identified as the woman previously known as “Little Miss Lake Panasoffkee.” This Jane Doe case dates back to a 1971 homicide in Sumter County, Florida.

During the interview, Ann opens up about her heartfelt memories of her mother, the family’s relentless pursuit of truth, and her renewed hopes now that Maureen’s identity has been confirmed after more than half a century. Ann is also reaching out to the public, asking anyone who knew Maureen “Cookie” Rowan or her estranged husband, Charles “Emery” Rowan, during the late 1960s or early 1970s, to come forward.

“Maureen was not just a name in a cold case file; she was a mother, daughter, and sister,” expressed Dustin Terry, founder of TheColdCases.com. “Ann’s story brings a personal dimension to this case. Our goal is to amplify her appeal, encouraging anyone who interacted with Maureen or Charles to share what they know.”

Authorities from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office have identified Charles Emery Rowan Sr. as a person of interest. Though he passed away in 2015, investigators are delving into the couple’s past, aiming to uncover details about their movements, social connections, and personal history leading up to Maureen’s untimely death.

Ann is seeking information from:

  • Anyone who knew Maureen “Cookie” Rowan
  • Anyone who knew or interacted with Charles (Emery) Rowan
  • Anyone who recalls rumors or events connected to the Rowan family around 1970–1971

CALL FOR INFORMATION:
Members of the public who have any information about Maureen “Cookie” Rowan, Charles “Emery” Rowan, or the Little Miss Lake Panasoffkee case are urged to contact investigators.
