Sir Rod Stewart has recently opened up about his poignant final wishes and thoughts on mortality. The 80-year-old music icon, who has been married to Penny Lancaster for over 25 years, shared his reflections during an appearance on BBC’s “My Life At Christmas with Anita Rani.” As reported by the Mail, Stewart expressed his desire to be laid to rest in the garden of his home, beside the resting place of their beloved dog, Bubbles. He candidly remarked, “You don’t want to talk about the end but he’s like, ‘Look it happens to all of us’.”

Penny Lancaster, his wife, humorously suggested, “Maybe we’ll have a family cemetery, then it has to be in the deed of the property – you buy the property, you have to maintain the cemetery of the Stewarts!”

The episode featuring this heartfelt discussion is set to broadcast on the BBC on December 7. The program promises a rare, in-depth conversation as Sir Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster invite Anita Rani into their home to delve into topics such as their lives, family, fame, and faith, while reflecting on the significance of past and present Christmases.

The episode offers an intimate glimpse into their world with a cozy fireside chat, festive crafting in a decorated greenhouse, and a picturesque walk through their countryside estate. Together, they reminisce about Rod’s journey to stardom, Penny’s transition from modeling to becoming a special constable, and their holiday traditions, including the exchange of gifts with Elton John.

Stewart also shared his thoughts on his enduring friendship with Sir Elton John, reminiscing about the extravagant Christmas presents they once exchanged.

According to BangShowbiz, he said: “We used to live just around the corner from each other. So we saw a lot of each other. You know, a lot of history there. So I went out down to Selfridges, Harrods, and I bought him this fridge. It don’t look like a fridge, it looks like a piece of furniture. So you press a button and the lid opens, all steam comes out, and up it comes two bottles of champagne, glasses, all chilled and everything.

“Pour yourself a drink, and it goes back down. So I was all pleased with myself. And I took it over to Elton’s. I said, ‘Here you are, dear’. And he said, ‘Thank you it’s so lovely. Here’s your present’.

“It was a Rembrandt. A Rembrandt etching in those days was worth about 12 grand. It’s up near the cinema room in Beverly Hills. Oh yeah, it’s very special.”

My Life At Christmas with Anita Rani is on BBC One on December 7 at 10.30am.
