Emergency services were called to assist Collins when he began experiencing breathing difficulties just a day before Thanksgiving.
WASHINGTON — Marquay Collins, a beloved TikTok personality who captivated millions under the name “Maquay the Goat,” has passed away at the age of 24.
His mother, Sonja Collins, shared the heartbreaking news of his passing in a poignant Facebook post on Wednesday.
“My heart is shattered,” she expressed. “My baby, my last one, my SnuggaBug, my Marquay is no longer with me.”
She did not disclose the cause of his death.
Collins amassed more than 6.9 million followers on TikTok, where he posted comedy skits, lifestyle content and videos highlighting his upbeat personality under the profile “marquaythegoat.” His final post appeared on his account on Nov. 25.
In her tribute, Sonja described her son as gentle and deeply loving.
“He was the sweetest person — he didn’t have a mean bone in his body,” she wrote. “I needed him longer than God allowed me to have him. He spoiled me and his dad, Elzie, he always said because we spoiled him.”
Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan told local outlets that emergency responders were dispatched after Collins experienced difficulty breathing.
When medics arrived, he was found unconscious and unresponsive, Bryan said. The cause of death remains under investigation, and no additional details have been released.
Local media have reported that Collins had complained of head and neck pain in the days leading up to his death, though those accounts have not been confirmed by authorities.
Fans across social media have used his mother’s Facebook post to share condolences and remember Collins for his humor, kindness and charisma.
“Wow, my heart is broken right now,” one fan wrote. “The life of the party is gone. I’m always watching you on TikTok every moment continuous easy we going to miss you. Love you so much, Marquay”
